Policy & Research

Community Matters has an ongoing programme of policy and research work that supports our members and the communities they serve by influencing policymakers, practice and public opinion.

Through in-house projects and with partners we research how community organisations improve the wellbeing of the UK's neighbourhoods, providing an evidence base for our parliamentary and policy work.

Community Matters uses this detailed understanding of our members and the community sector to respond to government consultations, produce campaign reports, summaries and briefing papers for community organisations and other professionals about sustainable communities and community development.

All these policy and research consultations can be found on these pages.

We also work on policy matters as part of the Community Alliance.

For briefings and consultation responses relating to legal matters, please see the Community Sector Law Monitoring Group pages.

Our Campaign Pack for Community Organisations has everything you need to start campaigning about the issues that matter most to your organisation. With practical and legal advice on elections, holding events and charitable law it will help you identify your goals and messages and raise awareness of them among the people that can make a difference.
