Home About Us NEC

National Executive Committee

Community Matters is a democratically-run organisation governed by a National Executive Committee elected by our members.  Staff benefit from their wealth of experience in community work, while to members they're an important local contact.

The NEC comprises members from each English region and one member for Wales, all elected locally.  The Treasurer is elected by the whole membership, and the Chair from within the committee.  Members serve three year terms, and have the power to co-opt additional people to fill specialist roles.

Anne Davies, Wales

I worked for Swansea City Council for 35 years, the last fifteen as a Community Development worker with the volunteers managing the 35 council owned community centres. Part of my work was with VISIBLE and all aspects of managing a community building. I helped several centres in Swansea to complete the Visible workbook. I am a volunteer in my local centre. We had one of the first grants to set up the After School club in 1995 and it is still going well, I ran the youth club for 14 years and am the Treasurer for the centre.

Margaret Plumridge, South East

I live and work in Hampshire though I was born rather further North.  I have worked with Community Associations for 26 years.  My starting point was the running and management of a new community building in Portsmouth and I am now head of a team providing advice and support to the county’s Community Association network.
I also take an interest in community activities outside of work and am currently Treasurer of the local Community Led Planning group.
