London Development Project

The London Development Project began in July 2001 with funding from London Borough Grants (now Association of LondonGovernment) and the Bridge House Estates Trust Fund. The funding pays for the London Regional Co-ordinator, Sharon Matthew who aims to:

  • Provide more targeted support to existing Community Matters members in the capital (with particular emphasis on the Outer London Boroughs)
  • Identify small, new and emerging community organisations, especially Black and Ethnic Minority and Refugee groups, who would benefit from Community Matters services
  • Help build the individual and collective capacity of community groups to the point where the can attract funding for specific projects
  • Develop sub-regional networking between community organisations in order to share information and best practice, and respond to new opportunities
  • Track the development of the new London regional policy and infra-structure as it relates to the community sector, and apply this in the support of community organisations

The work of the London Regional Co-ordinator is carried out on a casework /consultancy basis, which is free to both members and non-members (non-member services apply strictly to specific community groups and organisations).
