Children’s Workforce Development Council and Children England are delighted to be working
together to support the voluntary and community sector that works with children and young
people sector with this informative regional seminar.
The seminar will focus on key areas identified as current workforce priorities within the sector:
Working Together, Munro and integrated working – the implications for the VCS
The session will help colleagues and the sector to reflect on and amplify its current experience, it
will provide the opportunity to hear about emerging practice and use Localism as its backdrop to
explore the challenges and opportunities for the sector of the continuing development of multi
agency approaches as provision and efficiency becomes focused towards a community or district
level. The session will also explore the fuller implications for the sector of the Munro review
and look at some of the development that could help the sector to further improve its ability
to respond to the challenge of reducing resources and growing demand. The session aims to
empower delegates to participate and contribute to local arrangements to protect children and
young people and provide early help.
Leadership and management for all in the children’s workforce
The session will offer the opportunity to hear about and engage with the development of
leadership and management across Children’s services with colleagues from the National College of
School Leadership but critically to consider how the sector can support itself at a critical juncture to
develop its own continuous improvement by adapting existing peer learning methodology, building
both leadership skills and a mechanism by which the sector can respond to external demand for
improved service quality and its own objectives for community empowerment.
Higher level Skills: The workforce challenge of a smaller state and greater need
This workshop is an opportunity for delegates to discuss the skills needs of the sector in response
to its increased role in delivering targeted and specialist interventions with children, young people
and families, both through commissioned services and as a result of reduced capacity within
statutory services.
These opportunities are funded by the Department for Education and although free to the
voluntary and community sector, cancellations or no shows without reasonable (48 hrs) notice
will be subject to an administration charge of £50.00
