Children England is leading the Department for Education’s overarching programme for children, young people and families. NCVYS is a partner in this two year programme of work, and is offering a series of learning opportunities for both NCVYS members and members of our partners: NAVCA, Community Matters, Race Equality Foundation and Social Enterprise UK.
Payment By Results (PBR) is a shift toward outcomes-based commissioning; this is when a commissioning body agrees to fund a provider on the basis that they will achieve particular agreed outcomes, instead of paying for services at the start of a contract. Intended to create incentives to drive improved performance from providers, and to ensure commissioners use resources more efficiently whilst enabling greater flexibility for delivery organisations, PBR is likely to become widespread and has vast implications for the VCSE sector.
Accordingly, NCVYS is running a seminar where you can learn about PBR. There is no cost to join this session. Diane Mak, Associate at Social Finance UK will explain the PBR approach and offer a case study on Social Impact Bonds. Lewisham Council’s Children and Young People Directorate is a PBR pilot for Children Centres, based on the Early Intervention model. Jonathan Slater, Strategic Development Officer for Children and Young People at Voluntary Action Lewisham, will share experiences in PBR that are relevant to organisations providing services for children and young people.
