Community Matters invites organisations and individuals to join us in creating a national force for grassroots community action
Community Matters wants to build a broad national movement in which people and organisations who share our values can work with us and be supported by us.
Community Matters members are:
(a) Community organisations that: - support the objects of Community Matters
- are democratically operated and accountable to their community
- are furthering the recreational, educational, environmental, economic or social welfare aims of their community
- serve, and are open to everyone in either a neighbourhood or a community of interest/identity within a local authority area
(b) Local support organisations engaged in promoting or providing assistance to community organisations:
- Infrastructure organisations and other support providers
- Federations of community organisations
- Housing Associations
- Statutory authorities
Community Matters Associates
In addition to membership, we operate an Associates scheme aimed at a wide variety of groups that are not members such as:
- voluntary organisations and other third sector groups
- corporate supporters
- academic bodies and think tanks
- consultants
- individuals
- social clubs
Other public, private or voluntary bodies that are operating community buildings which are at least in part used to develop strong communities, eg:
- community schools or colleges
- community pubs
- community theatres
- drug treatment centres
- health centres
- libraries
- museums
