Government launches new fund to help struggling coastal communities across the country
The new £24 million Coastal Communities Fund has been announced by the Government to provide struggling coastal communities with the opportunity to make their town prosper.
Successful applicants will receive grants of between £50,000 and £2million.
Money could be used to deliver skills training, offer apprenticeships, create new workspaces or support small-scale transport improvements.
Bids are encouraged from many types of organisations that will support local economic development in coastal areas including charities, social enterprises and voluntary organisations.
Applications will be accepted from April 2012.
