London Development
Project
Community Matters Annual London Conference - Community Anchors and NeighbourhoodEmpowerment, Tuesday 4th March 2008, Click here for details

The London project began in July 2001 with funding from London Borough
Grants (now Association of London Government) and the Bridge House Estates
Trust Fund. The funding pays for a Development Officer, who aims to:
- Provide more targeted support to existing Community Matters members
in the Capital (with particular emphasis on the Outer London Boroughs)
- Identify small, new and emerging community organisations, especially
Black and Ethnic Minority and Refugee groups, who would benefit from
Community Matters services
- Help build the individual and collective capacity of community groups
to the point where the can attract funding for specific projects.
- Develop sub-regional networking between community organisations in
order to share information and best practice, and respond to new opportunities.
- Track the development of the new London regional policy and infra-structure
as it relates to the Community Sector, and apply this in the support
of community organisations
How is the work carried out?
The work of the Development officer is carried out on a casework /consultancy
basis, which is free to both members and non-members. (Non-member services
apply strictly to specific community groups and organisations).
The project also offers bespoke assistance from other Community Matters
services such as Advice and Information, and Consultancy services.
